As #DomesticGoddessMNL of House Chua-rgaryen, The Sunburnt, Cleaner of the Realm, and Mother of Dragons — my little warriors are no strangers to household chores. It’s always a good opportunity to instill in them the sense of responsibility and contribution as a member of the family. I can’t help but reminisce ‘fond’ memories of our journey.

My longtime Hand ‘M’ had to retire after 20 years of service to House Moya to take care of her own grandchildren. I single-handedly managed the household with the assistance of my 3 dragons aged 6, 4, and 1 year-old toddler. They helped with folding their clothes. No steady Hand for OVER A YEAR. That’s where #DomesticGoddessMNL was created. Parang Night King lang.

My new Hand ‘J’ was widowed and had to take a 2-month funeral leave to get her late husband’s affairs in order. It was unexpected, but we fared better in this battle with the dragons now aged 9, 7, and 4. They helped out in washing the dishes, folding their clothes, and packing their toys. School’s over but no vacation for my dragons. Summer ended before it began.

My Hand ‘J’ requested for a 2-week vacation from our Kingdom. No worries. My baby dragons now aged 11, 9, and 6 took charge (no prodding required) of our laundry and dog-feeding for the entire time while taking on occasional roles in table-setting, dishwashing, and cooking. This Mother of Dragons and Dada Jon, King of the 7 Kingdoms (well, more like 5 humans and 2 dogs ) couldn’t be more proud. They’re on Fire! And to the challenges, I say, Dracarys!

Today marks Day 61 of this year’s Game of Chores. My Hand ‘J’ has relinquished her duties to care for her mother, whose health has started deteriorating. My title as Cleaner of the Realm & Breaker of Stains is back. My baby dragons, now aged 12, 10, and 7, are dutiful with the kitchen clean-up rotation. All we need now is for Westeros to survive the COVID-19 Winter.
