Lockdown is our default.
I just realized that quarantine-mode is our family’s default. If not for school, important business meetings and family gatherings, we can stay at home for days on end. Going out feels like a chore for us – the need to change out of pajamas, bathe, and get dressed – and not to mention having to scrub up before bed for fear of being ‘dirty’ from being outside. As a homebody, I have always been inclined to hoard food and household supplies enough to last us a month. As a germophobe, it also meant even pre-Taal eruption and pre-COVID-19, I had a standard supply of face masks, 3 bottles of alcohol, 1 jug of hand sanitizer, packets of wipes and tissues, and bottles of hand soap. With these 2 super-weirdo traits combined, it seems I was built to survive, and even probably enjoy the quarantine, had it not been due to a lethal virus.
This would also mean that I am not a fan of traveling and cramped spaces. Planes and elevators make me nauseated. Kakastress pag may umuubo and nag sneeze in these small spaces. I am constantly washing my hands and have a fear of touching public surfaces (kaya magaling ako mag balance at magsungkit ng doors with my elbows, knees, and feet). I am more than content to travel vicariously through my friends’ FB posts. Kaya siguro di ako makarelate sa frantic statuses sa newsfeed ko. Hmmm.
